This beautiful embroidered linen drawstring bag could be carried or was often hung near the bedside to keep small items, such as brushes and combs or hairpins, near at hand. It is embroidered with two flowers. One looks like a thistle and one looks like a columbine, but they are stylized and who knows what the embroiderer had in mind?

It measures 10.5x13.75". Excellent condition. c.1900-20s.
