An Extraordinary Antique Ivory Silk Damask Bobbin Lace-edged Round Tablecloth and Dozen Very Large 28" Napkins Embroidered with "CBS" Monogram, 100" diameter round

This superb and rare antique silk damask round tablecloth and napkin set is woven with a spectacular magnolia flower pattern and it is embroidered with exquisite"CBS" monograms. The tablecloth also has handmade bobbin lace trim. The bobbin lace edging is made with a design of scalloped shamrocks.

The fabric is a rare whisper-weight ecru silk damask with about a zillion thread count. (no, I didn't really try to count them) The set is breathtaking. Most of us have never seen anything like it.

The tablecloth measures 100" and the twelve extraordinary napkins measure 27.75x28". This set is rare for many reasons: silk damask is rare, a 100" round cloth is rare, to have napkins of this large size is rare, to have a complete dozen is rare, to have the dozen napkins with the matching tablecloth is rare and, lastly, the extraordinary quality and beauty of this set is unimaginably rare!

The condition is excellent although not without a few small imperfections. There are some tiny old darned repairs on the tablecloth and an eraser-sized hole that is not quite a hole. The flaws are minimal against the expanse of the champagne-colored silk. The napkins are in perfect condition although one has a small spot. c.1900-30s. Stock 22202
