Superb Antique Italian Ecru Linen Mixed Lace Bed Coverlet (Bedspread) with Embroidery and Figural Needle Point Lace, Lacis, 82x100"

This late 19th or early 20th century figural Italian bedcover is creamy ecru linen with a cutwork center medallion in the middle and another medallion in the center of the pillow area. The larger medallion features a dancing woman with a cherub surrounded by floral Cluny bobbin lace cartouches and embroidery. The pillow medallion has a single, winged cherub. The bobbin lace borders are beautiful and plentiful, not only defining the center but also trimming the entire edge. It is an extraordinary piece that was probably made for a trousseau; it was put away and never used.

The entire bedspread measures 82x100". The width of the center section is 38"; the center section with the lace is 44'. The condition is excellent. Never used, just laundered for the first time, ever. It is fabulous! Italy, c.1900-1920s.
