A Superb Antique 19th century Silk Metallic Embroidered Runner or Textile Panel, 46x22"

This is one of those pieces that is extraordinary in person but does not photograph very well. The gold metallic threads on this spectacular cream silk runner are woven, basket-like, and couched down to the base layer to form different kinds of magnificent and lifelike flowers, including carnations. There are two layers of fabric. It measures 46x22". The condition is excellent although it has a little wear. c.19th century or possibly earlier. Stock 19148.

it is remarkably similar to the gold embroidered banner that was hanging in the cathedral in Brugge, Belgium.
