Superb Saxon Linen Damask Banquet Tablecloth Embroidered With Crown Coronet And "G" Monogram, Dated 1880, 84x131

This heavy, luxurious and historic white linen damask tablecloth is woven with geometrical motifs in an all-over diaper pattern and it is embroidered in one corner with a crown above a "G" monogram above the date, 1907. (crown - coronet/G/1907) The fabric is fantastic quality, superb and supple linen woven to royal specifications.

This cloth is of supreme quality. It is rare, spectacular, has documented provenance, and it is beautiful. It measures 84x131". The condition is nearly pristine, especially for its age; there is a tiny scraped hole, a darned repair not even an inch long and a faint discoloration along an old fold line. I tried to show these defects in sequence. ie. you see the same darn, first in situ, second as a close-up, third from the back. c.1880.
