Exquisite Figural Antique Mixed Lace Embroidered White Linen Tablecloth with Insertion of Lacis Cherubs or Children Picking Apples, 47x50" square, Italian

This exceptional antique white linen tablecloth is superbly hand sewn. It features a large figural filet lace center medallion, superb whitework embroidery, cutwork and exceptional filet lace edging. In the central medallion, the filet lace insertion shows three children picking apples from an apple tree. The padded satin stitch embroidery is masterful and lovely. Even the oak leaf pattern of the lacis (French: pronounced "lah-see") filet lace edging is gorgeous. Pristine condition, this was an unused trousseau treasure. The linen is crisp and bright with a nice drape and the subject matter is unsurpassed. It measures 50x47". c.1900. Stock 0819.
