This incredible rare antique embroidered Ayrshire white-work shawl is a spectacular testament to an embroiderer's prowess and it is astonishing to see in person.

The fabric is superfine ecru cotton lawn and even the design of repeating bouquets is spectacular. It is large and triangular and would have been used as a summer shawl, truly showing off one's wealth and position.

The condition is not perfect although it is wearable and not fragile and the embroidery is the epitome of perfection. c.19th century.
