This beautiful Christening dress is gorgeous and is trimmed with embroidered lace. It closes with tiny covered buttons and has drawstrings at the waist and at the long sleeves. The front of the bodice is bands of lace. It has been deaccessioned from a New England museum where it had been stored in an acid-free museum box. The museum's catalog number is sewn inside. (C74.160) The bottom resolves into three series of rows of tiny pintucks ending with an embroidered scalloped border. The waistband is 18" around, the bodice top is 4" high and the skirt is 36", making the overall length slightly longer than 41". Armpit seam to Armpit seam is 9.5". Excellent condition. c.1850-1900.
