Superb Pair of 19th Century Antique Blue Silk Satin Layover Pillow Shams covered with Ecru Battenberg Lace and Edged with Beige Tulle Ruffles, 35" Square

This superb pair of antique layover shams is edged with sheer ecru linen lawn ruffles like a tulle ballerina skirt. The subtle color of the blue satin peeks through the gorgeous ecru Battenberg lace overlay. These shams are polished and refined, very fancy, very beautiful but in a quiet way. The contrast of texture and sheen is gorgeous. I can't say enough to give you an idea of what they are actually like in person... absolutely breathtaking.

Condition: The overall condition is excellent but not flawless. There is a 2" section where the ruffled flounce has detached, and assorted holes and wear but they are spectacular. Offered "as discovered." (and I would not recommend washing them.) c. 1900.
