Exquisite White Linen Vintage Blanket or Quilt Cover or Top Sheet Embroidered with Hemstitching, Superb Appenzell Flowers, Mosaic Designs and "L" Monogram, 60x100"

This superb very white linen vintage blanket cover is superbly embroidered with what is considered to be some of the very best work in the world. The silvery quality of the embroidered flowers and the overall quality of the masterful work is the clue to the origin. Although I have no actual proof that this piece came from the Swiss Canton of Appenzell, I am certain that that is where it was made.

It is embroidered with a leafy drawnwork border followed by another border of tablet-shaped drawnwork designs alternating with sprigs of superbly sewn flowers. It has a simple "L" monogram in the center. The color is bright white and the lightweight linen fabric is superb. It features buttonholes all around on a doubled placket as well as .

The condition is pristine. This cover is very fine as well as exceptionally beautiful. Switzerland, c. 20th century.
