Gorgeous Vintage Italian White Linen Mixed Lace Round Tablecloth Embroidered with Whitework and Cutwork Flowers, Figural Zodiac Lace Insertions and Reticella Lace Edges, 53"

This superb antique white linen tablecloth is embroidered with cutwork and whitework embroidery and it has lacis (filet lace) insertions that depict all of the signs of the zodiac, in order. There are also insertion borders of Reticella Lace and fabulous pointy Reticella Lace edging. (all beautifully made.) The signs of the zodiac are all identified in the lace by name as well as by symbol.

The tablecloth also features needle woven fills in the fabulous floral center swags. It may have been made for export to a grand department store here in the states or, it may have been purchased as a travel souvenir.

It measures 53" in diameter. The condition is excellent. Italy, c. early 20th century.
