Wonderful Antique White Linen Handkerchief or Glove Case Embroidered with Appenzell Flowers, 11x5"

This antique white linen case was made to store either gloves or hankies (or whatever other treasures you would like to stash.) It is embroidered with the teeny tiny seed stitches and flowers and the gray pattern stamp that are the hallmark of Appenzell embroidery.

It measures 11w x 5" high when closed. The condition is excellent. Probably from Appenzell, Switzerland, but because there is no tag I can only say "probably." However, no other place produces such fine and wonderful work. c. 20th century. Stock 24453.
