Everything about this piece is exquisite. This spectacular sheet turndown is embroidered with a center medallion containing a large whitework "LGR" monogram beneath a royal crown coronet surrounded on three sides by handmade Russian bobbin lace. The 42 inch turnback (turndown, return) is handmade bobbin lace made in a traditional Russian serpentine pattern. Due to the very deep return, this is a "faux" or false sheet. This was made for "show;" one would never be permitted to actually sleep with something so fine. It measures 80" long x 105 inches wide. The condition is pristine. c.1890s. Stock 19676.
