Beautifully Embroidered Antique White Cotton Collar, 14x1.5"

This gorgeous antique collar is embroidered with a design of vertical flowers and rays; each subsequent row has fewer and fewer until the back looks fairly plain. It measures 4x13.5".

It has been deaccessioned from a museum collection and it has the museum i.d. number sewn on the reverse (82.117). The condition is imperfect; it does have holes and wear. But the fine work is breathtaking; it would be a beautiful addition to a collar or an embroidery collection. This is the type of work that can not be produced anymore. c. 19th-20th century.
