Superb Antique Embroidered Whitework Collar, Exquisite Tiny Stitches, 4x13"

This gorgeous antique white cotton collar is beautifully embroidered with mesmerizing tiny stitches in an absolutely beautiful floral and seed stitched design with beautiful deeply lobed scallops. Each element is so beautiful and so perfect that every inch is different and more amazing. Just the section toward the edges with the tiny hemstitched scallops above the graduated swags above the overcast scallop-on-scallop edges is amazing!

It had been basted onto a second layer of fabric but that fabric seems identical to the collar fabric.

It measures 13x4". It has been deaccessioned from a museum collection and has the museum identification number sewn on (82-145). The condition is imperfect; it has holes and wear. c.19th-20th century. Stock 18194.
