A Superb Antique White Linen Centerpiece Doily in Art Embroidery Known as "Society Work" Decorated with Luscious Lifelike Strawberries, 15.5"

This exceptional white linen antique doily is embroidered with a lifelike strawberry and shaded leaf design. The strawberries are ruby red and the edge is overcast in ecru colored thread. They look as though you could pluck them off the doily and pop them into your mouth. It is a very sweet example of "Art Embroidery" in a strawberry design.

The condition is mostly excellent; there is minor staining. c. 19th-20th century.
