Superb Antique French White Linen Runner / Very Long Towel Embroidered with Entwined "MC" or "CM" monogram, 94"

This very fine antique long white linen towel (or, more probably for today's use, runner) is embroidered on both ends with exquisitely sewn white work borders and scalloped edges. These superb overcast scallops and flowers finish both ends. There are also drawnwork flowers, loop-de-loops and a superb "MC" or "CM" monogram embroidered in masterful satin stitch.

The extremely long center section is plain and the fabric is almost lighter-than-air unimaginably fine white woven linen. It measures 20.75x94". The condition of this exceptional piece is excellent. France, c. 19th century.
