Antique German Turkey Red and White Linen Damask Jacquard RollTuch, 32x74" This fabulous and long antique white linen and Turkey red mangle cloth has the word "RollTuch" woven at each end and a small red "RR" monogram on one end. It was used to protect delicate items from the rollers of the mangle ironers. The middle is woven with a woman doing her laundry on a big mangle iron with a wheel. Her laundry basket is beside her. It reads "schneeweiss gewaschen / glanzend un rein/ das wird der / hausfrau zierde sein." TRANSLATION: Snow white washed, shiny & clean / that will be / the pride of the housewife. (Is that wonderful?!) It measures 74x32". Condition is very good though it does have a small worn area and there are two holes on one edge. It is absolutely wonderful in person. c.1900-20s.
