Cynthia's Antique & Vintage Linens
This magnificent tablecloth is superb and immense; it would provide acres of fine white linen for all of your projects. It is woven with the royal crowns and the "M" monogram of Margherita, Queen of Italy (1851-1926), and Savoia shields. It also has garlands of ribbons and flowers and a criss-cross lattice background. In the center is a medallion with a large royal crown surmounting a shield surrounded by a laurel wreath. It's fabulous! The tablecloth measures 120x228". The provenance is also royal; it comes from the collection of a royal princess. It has just been laundered and pressed; it is so large and unwieldy that it is very hard to handle and to fold. There were three of us but we needed a fourth, and a football field in which to spread it out. I don't mean to sound discouraging! The condition is mostly very good; it does have some wear in the center and some darned repairs and tiny worn places that are "not-quite-holes." c.20th century. Stock 21157. $1800.
