Cynthia’s Antique & Vintage Linens
This superb antique white linen damask towel is woven with a wonderful pattern. In the center is a stag's head; the ends both have an oak tree in the center flanked by a buck, doe and fawn. It measures 23x43". The condition is not perfect; there are flaws in the fringe. In one section a drawnwork thread has broken and it is easy to see how that border was made by comparing the adjacent parts. I like seeing this flaw because I find it as interesting as the parts that are intact! I have drawn an aqua arrow to show it. c. 19th century, c.1880s. Stock 21001. $55.
