Cynthia’s Antique & Vintage Linens
This very long figural fringed towel or runner has borders at each end with a bird-in-nest symbol alternating with flowerheads. It came from the collection of a woman who traveled during the early 20th century in pursuit of collectible linens, laces and stitches. She mounted exhibitions of textiles. She, herself, wove and wrote on the subject of the "Spanish Stitch." In the photos, I am trying to show the extraordinary weave and texture of the fabric. No photo can prepare you for its surprising large size, though! It is wonderful in person. It measures 26x84". There is an old darned repair and there are some very pale, but persistent, stains. It is otherwise in excellent condition. It is perfectly pretty, as well as historically important. 19th century. Stock 12924. $65.
