Cynthia’s Antique & Vintage Linens
This is an amazingly pretty antique linen damask drawnwork splasher that is embroidered with gold and Turkey red in whimsical whorls. It measures 17x27". These were used in the days when every bedroom had a washstand with a basin and pitcher for washing. The splasher was tacked on the wall behind the washstand to prevent the water from ruining the wallpaper. The nearly perfect condition is remarkable, even the drawnwork and the fringe is intact. There is a perforation in the top right corner (which is typical) it is where it was tacked to the wall behind the wash basin. Excellent condition, c.1875-1900. Stock 11322. $36.
