This superb runner demonstrates the beauty of Cypriot Lefkara lace. In the past, Italians took their cut work to Cyprus for trade and the Cypriot women adapted the technique and created their own form of cutwork. One feature is that the front is nearly indistinguishable from the back. The work is distinctive and is singularly beautiful. This spectacular soft-white linen runner has spectacular drawnwork embroidered hems. It measures 19x48". Excellent condition everywhere except for around a hole which is surrounded by rusty discoloration. Italy, c.1920-40s. Stock 15483. $16.
